What do i need to game with a 144hz monitor

I'm building my first pc and I'm buying a 144hz monitor and i was told that you have to use dvi for that (i dont know if it's hdmi to dvi or dvi to hdmi or just dvi i'm not really good with this stuff) and I know that dvi doesnt transmit audio so what cable do i need to transmit the audio and what type of dvi cable do i need to buy? links plz

Get a monitor with DisplayPort input and a "DisplayPort" cable.
and costly good PC setup.

Best 144hZ gaming monitors are from BenQ and Asus.
Personally own the BenQ 2420Z, very happy with it and the coolers are really good.

the benq is the one im getting i was just wondering if i need an extra cable for the sound along with the dvi. Thank you

Like I wrote DisplayPort is a cable itself, it's called DisplayPort (the Port is quite confusing).
So you use Display Port (which looks similar to HDMI and is lot thinner than DVI) instead DVI cable.
The difference between DP cable is that it supports frequencies of 120/144hZ, additionally to standard 60hZ.
DP just like HDMI transmits both a audio and image.
So if you get DP, you don't have to worry about it any more. Also I would advise try to buy DP cable, on internet.
In my country, I couldn't purchase it any local store, across 100 km in any direction.


In most cases, they asked me what is this cable, they though I was talking about HDMI.
Then I explained that I meant a cable, which is called DP and it works like HDMI, but transmits higher frequencies.
Still after explanation, they didn't had it for sale or in storage, had to buy it on-line....ROFL.
