I bought a laptop for parts, and I bought all of the parts for it, but the screen doesn't work.

I'm going to invest in a hot air gun.

What kind of flux do I need to do the job?

Also are their any tips that I need to know about what not to do or what to do in order to get this to go right?

Thanks

You need to determine what the issue actually is, and whether a "reflow" will actually fix that issue, and for how long will that last.

"reflow" is NOT the basic fix for a GPU, especially in a laptop.

Adding to what was said, my experience with boards sent out for repair/reflow by the shop where I work isn't great. If indeed the GPU is the actual problem, a reflow is generally a temporary fix (and these were done by a lab with a proper reflow machine). A lot of those boards came back to us a few months later with the same problem.
