I have a Gigabyte gtx 1660 OC 6G with me for a while now. I wasn't able to use it because it has 1 hdmi and 3 display ports and my monitor is VGA. I bought an hdmi to vga adapter and it didn't work on gtx 1660 but it worked on my older gtx 760 gpu. I'm sure my gtx 1660 isn't broken because I tested it with a LG tv(hdmi to hdmi) and I was able to use it. I'm guessing that I need a different adapter/converter, I've read somewhere that a displayport to vga adapter/converter will work but I just want to make sure.

I'm planning to use my gtx 1660 on a new build(same monitor), but I did this on my current build because I wan't to know if the gpu I received doesn't have defects/problems.

In theory, DP to VGA will work, although you may find that you will have to do a video driver update. Easiest would be to try it and only update the video drivers if you need to.

BTW....get a DP to VGA cable, instead of having the weight of an adapter and a VGA cable head hanging from the DP connector.
