What do we do when we are asked the network authentication

Hello,
well basically i'm using a samsung laptop before it was working perfectly fine. but then we had to change the wire which connected the laptop to the broadband because that wire wasn't working. now when i'm trying to connect it through the new wire it asks me the netowrk authentication. i dont know what to do?? please help me!

Where is this second wire connected to? Post the exact message that comes up and in what application. A screenshot would help also.
