[SOLVED] What do you think about AMD 6900XT

Solution
here's some of my opinions regarding the 6900XT (purely opinion):

The 6900XT is a joke. AMD said the 6900XT is a value card compared to the 3090, but when you're paying more than a thousand bucks (assuming normal prices), "value" looses it's meaning.

The 3090 is faster than the 6900XT so people looking for the absolute best will go straight for the 3090, or they actually need the 24GB of VRAM. The 6900XT on the other hand still offers the same 16GB of VRAM from the 6800 (non XT)

Solution
I was thinking of changing my GPU and wanted to know about if its worth buying? I am currently using 2080 Ti.

Thanks!
Unless you don't care about ray tracing or the dlss, a 6900XT is a pretty big upgrade from a 2080ti/3070 and is very often faster than the 3090 (depending on the version of either card) in traditional rasterized rendering. Ray tracing on AMD cards will hopefully be much faster once FSR is available in more ray traced titles.

If you live in the US, you can try to get it for its $999 MSRP on the US AMD store during the weekly drop, which are almost always on Thursdays at 10AM-12 EST.

It's speculated that RX 70 series is coming in a year, so I personally would wait and save up. RTX 40 series is speculated to come at the end of next year like RTX 30 series did in 2020.

I have a 6900XT and my friend has a 3070. With most games i beat him in terms of FPS at higher quality settings, until we turn on Ray Tracing. His 3070 is on par if not slightly better than mine with R/T games such as Control, Cyberpunk etc. Considering i paid $2,500 AUD ($1,873 USD), I am the bigger idiot in this case. Also thanks to the quality of AMD drivers, there are a lot of ray tracing related bugs in some games, for e.g. Cyberpunk with R/T crashes every time and destroys the driver enough that you need to restart the PC to make it stable again.

In hindsight, unless you have a 1440p+ monitor capable of more than 100hz or want 60fps doing 4k and you really want that frame rate (ive got a G32QC monitor thats 1440p @ 165hz) with all the bells and whistles (except maybe R/T for now), its not a good way to spend money. I concur with a lot of reviews and user opinions that a 6800XT is basically the same thing for less money. and you basically have a 3070 equivalent, even lesser of a reason to upgrade. I'd personally wait another year before you start thinking of upgrading.
