I will be upgrading my PC to this in the next week or so, the CPU is already ordered as well as the HyperX ram. I will be ordering the a second 7870 GPU sometime in the next 2 days. Everything else, I already have.. the current possessor is an Intel Core i3-4130.

Should I make any changes? Any additions? The biggest game I will run will be GTA 5. I have a Asus VS238H-P monitor and am getting another tomorrow.

If you want to do a nice upgrade to the gpu, newegg has this 290 for $219 after rebate: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?sdtid=7636000&SID=13b5f4361ae348408a77c84510efd46e&AID=10440897&PID=1225267&nm_mc=AFC-C8Junction&cm_mmc=AFC-C8Junction-_-cables-_-na-_-na&Item=N82E16814150697&Tpk=N82E16814150697&cm_sp=

That card will work really well for you.

As far as the CPU, you do not need anything beyond an i5. Getting the i7 will not improve your gaming experience at all. Toms and Andatech have done tests proving that there is no gaming FPS gain between the two.

I agree on the ram, you only need 8gb and it needs to be from 2 4GB sticks that are the same brand, model and speed.

For an SSD, I'd recommend the Crucial mx100 256GB...
You need to return the RAM ASAP or you will have problems.

First, you really don't need 16GB of RAM, for gaming you won't notice any difference at all, in fact almost anything you do won't notice the difference, but that isn't why you need to return it. The reason is because the Cruical RAM which I assume you already have is not going to be compatible with the Kingston HyperX RAM, especially since they have different speeds, and will result in a great number of system stability problems.

The GPU and CPU are fine, but honestly you should take the money from the RAM and upgrade to an i7 or upgarde your GPU to something faster. It would make a huge difference where the RAM upgrade won't.

I have canceled the RAM order. Another 7870 will only cost me $85 then I will be getting 4GB of video memory with 2 of them. I already got the i5 for $224 on eBay it has not shipped yet, but will ship in the morning.

Yea honestly the i5 will be fine,

Though i'd recommend selling your 7870 and upgrading your GPU. People often think using Crossfire is a good idea, but it has several issues. First off your video memory will not increase, while each have 2GB each, they must keep exact duplicates of all data on both cards. Meaning it still behaves as though you only had 2GB.

Then for playing games, the performance will only increase on a small handful of games that are optimized for Crossfire. On most games performance won't change, and on some performance will actually be reduced. I thought crossfire would be great too once, then tried it and none of my games improved. The game I really wanted it for ran half as fast as it did with a single card. I did more research after and found this to be the expected result.

Long story short, you would have better performance overall goign to a 7950 than crossfire 7870 cards.

An SSD would be a good upgrade also.

Depends on how much cash you will have and what offers you see. Typically for AMD cards Sapphire and Asus are best. MSI, XFX, Diamond, Powercolor and HIS are second runner ups. Anyone lower down on the chain is usually best to avoid.

Also make sure to look at R9 280, R9 285, Radeon 7970 and R9 280x. All of these are good options too that might be in your price range so best to shop around. They get better in that order.

I have that SSD and it has been perfectly reliable for me so far and is very fast.

Solution
I hate rebates, but I think I'll grab the NewEgg deal, I saw it on slickdeals but had hesitation. I found 2 sticks of 8gb ram for $100. This deal is so nice I wanna take it, what do you think of it? Will it mix with the ram I have now? If not I could sell the one I have now to a friend who is building a pc soon.

The rebates are fine, I have never had any problems getting them. As far as powercolor brand cards, i'd avoid them. $100 for 8GB of ram, that's a bad deal. This is better: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231428&cm_re=g._skill_8gb_ripjaws-_-20-231-428-_-Product

16GB is pointless for gaming. Modern games don't even use all of 8GB and won't use more than 8GB for quite a ways into the future. Having more than 8GB is just throwing away money. The only reason I have 12GB is because I started out with 4GB, then later added 8GB more.

I never saw you post a link to the ram you are considering getting. Also, if you do alot of HD video editing then you may want to go with an i7.
