Question What Does 32GB (4x8GB) Actually Mean On A RAM Stick ?

I have 1 ( one ) stick of DDR3 RAM that is labeled 32GB(4x8GB). What does this actually mean?
Is this 1 ( one ) stick of RAM 32 gigabytes
or
is this 1 ( one ) stick of RAM 8 gigabytes and I require 4 ( four ) of them to make 32 gigabytes ?

Btw, reason why it has it on the label means that originally, it was part of a set, of 4x 8GB RAM sticks. Whereby when you'd install all 4x sticks, you could get 32GB as total.
