What does 4x2GHz mean in the following context?

Hi,
I'm currently building a PC to do normal computer work and play video games. One of the games I will be getting is Elite: Dangerous. I can meet its recommended specs with my CPU (so my CPU specs don't matter) but, under the minimum section, it says Quad Core CPU (4 x 2Ghz). What does the "4 x 2GHz" bit mean?

Yeah Corei7 4790k is the Intel's first true 4ghz processor although ghz aren't everything like for an example Amd made a 8 core 4ghz cpu few years back but Intel's 3ghz Corei5 outperformed it , Corei7 4790k is a good processor but if I was you I'd wait for Skylake it's around the corner

Skylake will have similar pricing however it'll be the DDR4 prices that hurts.
