What does having 2 graphics cards do?

Does it just increase stability?
If I have 2 2GB graphics card, will it equal a 4GB?
Please tell me

There are two different ways to have multiple GPUs. You can have them render as a team (e.g. SLI, Crossfire), which increases performance by using both processors. However, both cards need the same contents in the VRAM, so 2x 2GiB cards still act as 2GiB.

Or you can have them separate, which allows you to have large numbers of displays. You can use the full VRAM for each card, but won't get the increased performance.

Personally i dont think there are any advantages if your just gaming.I think you would be better off buying one good graphics card.It produces more heat and not all games support sli or crossfire
