what does it mean if i boot windows 7 iso that i got off the net and it get to instal then goes to setup is starting but wont

my computer crashed on me after dropping it off my bed it would turn on but say repair windows recommended but wouldn't do it with out the disk so I downloaded it off the net and burnt it to dvd and it started working got to the setup is starting but its been like that for over a hour now could it mean my hard drive is stuffed

probably a hard drive failure, it's a shame you attempted the reinstall, a new HDD and you'll be fine, unless there is other damage... but that would have shown itself by now. You may be able to put your old hdd in a caddy and recover some stuff, the attempted installation has probably killed that idea though.

sorry new to this what is Hdd its for my laptop

hard disk drive... open it up and find out what hdd is currently in it (it'll normally be accessible through a panel on the underside) let us know what it is and we'll tell you what you need to look for in a replacement
