I looked at my advanced display settings and it says i have a total of 3775 MB of total available graphics memory. My Radeon HD 6770 has 1024 MB of dedicated memory, and it says i have 2751 MB of shared system memory. What does this mean? Is my graphics card using my system memory when its running low on its own? Is shared system memory supposed to be as high as mine is? Is the graphics card using 2751 MB of my memory all the time? Thanks for any ansers

Solution
It just means that 2751MB of your system RAM is allocated for your graphics card. Should your system require that memory, the shared memory should be relinquished automatically as needed.

How do i lower this amount? I only have 6 GB of DDR3 RAM and I am not planning to upgrade my RAM for about 6 months, so i would like to lower shared system memory to only 1GB or something like that.

I know this is an old post but does this mean that since i have 16 gb of ddr3 ram and a 2gb gtx 670 and shared sais 10 gb, in theory i have a 12 gb 670 as long as i dont use much ram for other things?
