Question What does "Supports up to PCIe 4.0 x4 Supports up to SATA 6Gb/s" mean?

My mobo manual states:

▪M2_1 slot (From CPU)
▫Supports up to PCIe 4.0 x4
▫Supports 2242/ 2260/ 2280/ 22110 storage devices

and then for another slot it states:

▪M2_4 slot (From Z690 chipset)
▫Supports up to PCIe 4.0 x4
▫Supports up to SATA 6Gb/s
▫Supports 2242/ 2260/ 2280 storage devices

Does that mean you can also plug an msata device or transfer speed is 6gb/s?

Mobo is MSI Z690 Tomahawk DDR5 by the way.

Not msata. That is a different configuration.

M.2 SATA drives are a thing. The M2_4 port will take an M.2 SATA drive.

Ok so it does accept both Nvme and m.2 sata and I can get full PCI 4 performance if I plug an Nvme?
