I have been wondering about what "K" in K7,K8, etc. of AMD could actually mean or does it even have one? I know the P in intel processor are just Pentium. Not a clue what K in AMD cpus are for...

"Kilroy was here"?

Kryptonite.

Lol, Kilroy 😛.

The "K" I think stands for "Kryptonite", which (after Googling) AMD seems to want to use against the superman (at the time) of the CPU industry, Intel.

Rofl  .

My more primitive brain is still fast. It's the cerebral cortex that's slow.

I thought it was for OK processor... No?

I know what everyone's been wondering - 2^33634943-1 IS NOT PRIME. Now, wasn't that worth running Prime95 for a month to know?

It was OK, at one time the k6 233 was the fastest cpu out, but soon the pII's outpaced it.

I just realised, what is amd gonna name their K-9 core, lassie?

I think AMD's "K" is like Intel's "P". What does P5, P6, etc means?

I think most of us have gotten that much...at least i hope they have, but what does K mean or signify, for example we can trace the P in p7 back to maybe processor or pentium, but K is just funky...
