Hi,

When i first built my computer i found that my case's power switch was broken so I just used the reset switch to boot. A year later I plugged the reset switch on the case to the power switch pin on my mobo.

To me I don't think it has made any difference.

So what does the reset switch actually do?

Thanks in advance,

it is the same as pressing the power button twice when your computer is already on.
Best used when your pc crashes. Its like cold reset for your windows system.

ok thanks, so whats the difference between a cold boot and a normal boot?

Normal boot is like you start your pc normally like pressing your on button. Cold boot is when you pc got hang or static in where you will press the reset button for cold boot your system. 😀
