I currently have a motherboard suited to a amd processor. I want to upgrade it to get a intel i7. I was just wondering what else i will have to replace like my ram which is [AMD] 8GB Patriot 1600MHz DDR3 etc.

Solution
It would work, sure, but the problem is Skylake's memory controller is meant for memory voltages of 1.35V and lower, for low voltage DDR3 and high voltage DDR4. It's been said that running the memory controller at 1.5V for extended periods of the time may damage the it (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gIOOG9mtd1E) but YMMV. I personally wouldn't take the risk, and would instead go for an LGA1150 system with an i7-4790K since the pricing is better. And yes, the 750 Ti will work, because all modern desktop GPUs use the PCI Express interface and could be considered universal. There are exceptions, of course, but none so important that you need to worry about them.
If you play your cards right, the only thing you'll need to replace is your CPU. You already have DDR3 memory, and many motherboards today utilize it, so you can carry it over to your new system. Most newer motherboards for the LGA 1151 socket use DDR4 instead, so if you opt for one of the newest motherboards you'll have to get new RAM too. Other than that, your GPU, PSU, storage and optical drives, and case (assuming you get a motherboard with a compatible form factor) will all carry over to your new system.

So if i find a motherboard compatible with a ddr3 ram and i7 processor i should be good?

So this would work? It has a 1151 socket for the i7 and is compatible with drr3 ram. And btw will this work with a nvidia gtx 750 ti are the gpu sockets universal? http://www.scan.co.uk/products/gigabyte-ga-h110m-s2pv-ddr3-intel-h110-s-1151-ddr3-ddr3l-sata3-6gbps-realtek-gigabit-lan-usb-30-micr?utm_source=google+shopping&utm_medium=cpc&gclid=Cj0KEQiAq920BRC8-efn57XrotYBEiQAlVlMQ5kmilGlefpJlNRCRPIMbtZDvIO4rpzWtqMMqg77HXUaAqru8P8HAQ

Ok thanks for the help so i'll get a i7 4790k and a motherboard compatible with a 1150 socket and ddr3 ram and i should be ok? 😀 Thanks for all the help btw

The processor and motherboard in my signature are really really good value for money, and will be compatible with your old memory and other computer parts.
BTW, you probably know this already, but just in case.... an i7 4790 is an excellent CPU, but for most applications including ALL games, an i5 4690 is very nearly the same speed for about £70 less.
i7 are about 33% faster than i5 only when doing multithreaded tasks such as heavy duty video editing or 3D rendering.

Yes, that's correct, only the processor and motherboard will need to be purchased. No problem! :)

BTW, listen to lodders, while I understand the halo effect of having an i7, it's not the best value for the money.

Ok, thanks for the recommendation 😀
