Hello i have an ok System, got an A-10 7700k quad core, GTX 960 2gb and 12 gigs of ddr3 ram running at 1866 MHZ, i was wondering what games i could play on this system at 4K resolution, i will put a list of some of the games i own on my steam library and i want to know what ones would run over 30 fps at all times.

Dark souls 2
World of Warcraft
left 4 dead 2
Dota 2
Civilization beyond earth
civilization 4
Starcraft 2
Fallout 4
fallout new vegas
fallout 3
Skyrim
GTA 5
Battlefield bad company 2
AGE OF EMPIRES 2 HD
Black ops 3
MW2
assassins creed black flag
Diablo 3

All i wana know if what games out of this list can i run at 4K and keep over 30 fps atleast, and it dont matter what settings i play on.

What do you mean by rock all the games? 30 FPS?

Not even. These games would launch at 4K, but we're talking about turning down the settings all the way down, essentially rendering 4K pointless.

They still work. And you are also overestimating most these games. Many of these are extremely low end graphical games.

Just because your card/system has 0 problems with 1080p does not mean it could have a prayer of playably running the same games at 4x the resolution.

If by run fine you mean low graphic quality and 15-25fps then sure it will do the job. But considering 30 fps is really the minimum of playability, and low graphic settings at 4k look like crap compared to high settings at 1080p, if that makes you happy sure. To get 30+ fps out of most games at 1080p you need a Fury X, 390x's in Crossfire, or 980ti's in SLI.

Example Fallout 4 does 25-33 fps on a GTX 970 which is far more powerful than the 960:

Everyone else in the world would rather run the game well at 50-60 fps at high settings in HD. Whatever floats your boat.

Far Cry 4 on low @ 4K:

That is just one game and it can barely average 25FPS on low settings.

4K is very stressful. In order to hit 30FPS at 4K with max settings you need a 980Ti, Fury X or 1080 (not out yet).

Of course FC4 is very demanding, but don't forget the games the OP is running:
Dark souls 2
World of Warcraft
left 4 dead 2
Dota 2
Civilization beyond earth
civilization 4
Starcraft 2
Fallout 4
fallout new vegas
fallout 3
Skyrim
GTA 5
Battlefield bad company 2
AGE OF EMPIRES 2 HD
Black ops 3
MW2
assassins creed black flag
Diablo 3

Most those games are not demanding at all.

My 960 doesn't even break a sweat (very underutlized) at 1080p on highest settings in Civ 4 and AoE2HD. Those could reasonably be played at 4k on a 960. (Though, I have a 4GB 960 so I don't know what kind of limitations the 2GB Vram will impose, never analyzed vram usage)

I don't have MW2, but I can easily max out BF4 at 1080p ( 80ish fps avg). It's conceivable that Bf4 and similar could be played at 4k at medium settings at 30fps.

Basically, all the older games on that list should be playable (read 30ish FPS) at medium settings on 4k

80 FPS at Ultra at 1080 does translate to 30FPS at medium at 4k, I am aware that it is 4x the pixels

Again, if you're happy how it performs be my guest. 20-30 fps which is the actual result of quadrupling the resolution even if you lower the detail level is nearly unplayable, and forget playing online you will get demolished.

If it were that easy other people would be doing it that cheaply.

Bf4 =/= Witcher 3 the Witcher 3 is vastly more demanding than BF4. My statements were on BF4.

80/4=20. YOu get the remaining 10 fps boost by dropping settings from ultra to medium.

I have access to a 4k tv. I will attempt to run BF4 on that at medium settings and report back.

Not at all saying it will be a great or enjoyable experience, I merely said that it is possible on slightly older games like BF4 to get reasonable frames if you turn the settings down. Further point, we're talking about avg fps barely making 30, min fps is bound to be significantly lower.

53-49 is 4. 4 FPS difference for the GTX 1080 between BF4 and Witcher 3. Big difference indeed.
2) Lemme guess... 4K, 30 FPS, medium, at 30 Hz?
3) It's not going to be 60 FPS on BF4 even if you turn down settings severely... Maybe everything turned off, a fluctuating 60 FPS. But again, if you're turning down everything, what's the point?

!) See your point there. Don't own Witcher 3, never planned to, hadn't looked at how stressful it was.
2) That's what i've been claiming yes, so that's what i'll try to do.
3)Never claimed 60FPS was even possible, I don't think it is on a 960. I'm expecting an avg of 30 and a min of 10-15 on medium, i doubt 60 can be achieved, even at the lowest possible settings. I'm actually quite curious though, as to what results I receive this weekend.

Although FO 4 is more demanding it is using the same game engine as FO 3 and FO NV. They will perform similarly with the older titles being a bit better.

Skyrim is not demanding until you mod it.

GTA V is very demanding. Maxed out at 1080P it needs almost 4GB of VRAM.

Anything Source engine is well optimized so it will have a good chance of running better than most.

The biggest problem he would run into is the VRAM limit. He could probably do low to medium settings on most of the games but he wont be able to max out most with only 2GB of VRAM.
