Planning to upgrade my cpu because my old one is bottle-necking my gtx 1060 gpu.

I have a 2560x1440p 144hz monitor and plan to run games like the upcoming blackops 4 in 2k resolution on high.

What motherboard and ram should I get for the i5-8600k? Thanks.

Current Setup:
Motherboard : Asus P8H77-V Le
GPU: MSI Gaming Geforce GTX 1060 6gb
CPU: Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-3550 3.30Ghz
Memory: G.Skill Ripjaws X Series 4gb x4 (16gb total) DDR3
Power Supply: PC Power & Cooling Silencer Series 600 Watt

I seriously doubt that CPU is bottlenecking that GPU.

The main issue here is you are trying to game on a 1440P Monitor with a GTX 1060.

Just need to either lower the settings in the games or get a GTX 1070 or better ideally.

Pairing a 8600K...

What are you currently working with? List your specs like so:
CPU:
Motherboard:
Ram:
SSD/HDD:
GPU:
PSU:
Chassis:
OS:

If we're to answer your thread's title alone, then pick a Z370 chipset board, a DDR4-3200MHz ram kit to pair with your i5-8600K.

Pairing a 8600K with GTX 1060 isn't going to help you playing at 1440P.

The Graphics card is the bottleneck.
