What GPU Memory is really needed?

Are there many real world advantages of 2/3/4/6GB memory for say a GTX770 or an HD7970?
(BF4 and After Effects CS6 is most it'll be taxed.)

For BF4 3+ is recommended I would not get less than that for that game. If you run more than one monitor 4 gigs is better, 6 can be overkill unless you have alot of monitors at high resolution.

from my personal standpoint......... if I were to buy a new card that would last a while, and I couldn't buy a new card every year, ( I'm crazy that way )............ I would get a high end card with 3/4gigs of video memory................... depending on your needs and your resolution it may be less. I would however never buy a card with just 1gig anymore. I think they are junk just as I think dual core processors are junk.

I would definitely say 3GB. That's what I went for with my HD 7970.
