What GPU should I get for my Dell Optiplex 780 MT? Currently, my specs are:

CPU: Core 2 Quad Q9650 3.0GHz
RAM: 4GB
HDD: 500GB

i would say a GTX 1050 over the RX 460 because the 460 won't work in a 780

Be sure the card you get doesn't need a 6 pin PCIe cable. A 2 slot single fan card will need to be converted to 1 slot. The simplest solution is get a low profile card and use the full height single slot bracket that many of them come with.
Same here on the Radeon R9-3xx,R9-4xx cards (+R9-285). Known issue with the Dell BIOS.
