Question Which GPU should I go for ?

Hi, in 2 weeks, I plan on finally replacing my 1080Ti for something new.
Was originally thinking of going with a RTX 3080, as my budget was based on max EUR350. I already have a buyer for the 1080ti and plan to add money for the 3080.
But, turns out I can extend my budget to around EUR450, which opens up space for a 3080ti on my second hand market.

I also noticed that the RTX 3090's are going for ~EUR500, which then asks the question should I save even more money for a 3090 or just stick with the 3080/3080ti.
I want to add than I plan on buying only NVIDIA cards, as I have had terrible experience with AMD and their drivers, and I have used/owned the majority of the RX series, ranging from RX 560 to 5700XT.
I am playing on 1080p 144Hz, games like CS2 and LoL, but I also want to play AAA titles like Cyberpunk or God of War, and just want a general GPU upgrade as I believe 1080ti is losing its drivers support.

Current specs:

CPU: Ryzen 7 5700X
MOBO: MSI GAMING B450 PLUS MAX
RAM: 2x8 GB PATRIOT VIPER 4 3200MHz DDR4
GPU: GIGABYTE AORUS 1080Ti 11GB
CPU COOLER: ROG RYUJIN 360mm
CASE: COOLERMASTER H500P Mesh Gunmetal Gray
PSU: ASUS TUF 650W
HDD: TOSHIBA P300 1TB & SEAGATE ST31000520AS 1TB
SSD: PATRIOT P210 256GB SSD
4 x CoolerMaster MF 120 HALO / 2 x CoolerMaster SickleFlow 200mm

Edit:
Will the PSU hold up for a 3080/ti?
I saw something on reddit that people are using 600W PSU's for this, and I have not had any single problem with the TUF unit in my 2 years of ownership.
My main question is if the 2GB of VRAM and faster performance is worth the extra ~EUR100 or not.
Currently, I see one 3080 12GB for EUR390, and a 3080ti 12GB for EUR450 on the second-hand market.

Go for the RTX 3080 Ti if you can stretch to EUR 450—it offers a solid performance boost over the 3080 (closer to a 3090) and extra VRAM, which helps in AAA games. Your 650W PSU might handle it, but it's close—consider upgrading to 750W+ for stability. If budget is tight, RTX 3080 12GB at EUR 390 is still a great pick.

I'd say there are more idiots on reddit pretending to know what they're talking about than there are here, but then I could also be an idiot.

A 600W PSU is not going to be a wise choice for a system equipped with a flagship grade GPU.
Look for an ATX 3.1 compliant PSU, as they can better accommodate GPUs that intermitently draw increased amounts of current, such as this Super Flower LEADEX III or this Better Super Flower LEADEX III.

And what about the RTX 4070?? This card is slightly faster than the RTX 3080 and only slightly weaker than the 3080ti but draws much less power (220w compared to 350w 3080ti). Not to mention that it is newer than the 3080/3080ti. If you can buy the 4070 within your budget, I would go for it. Additionally, you won't have to replace the PSU and the card should keep a low temperature.

Thanks for the suggestion!
I've thought about it aswell, but the cheapest and the 'ugliest' model in my country is €550, which is way over my budget. A nice 3080ti (FTW3 for example) and a lets say Pure Power 12 850W will set me back around ~€450, which is the maximum I can afford currently.

Have you considered an RX 7800 XT ?
To be honest, no.
I want to get away from Radeon as much as possible, as I have had really bad experience with them in the past.
I have owned almost all of the RX series ranging from RX 560 to 5700XT and there were always some issues whether it was the drivers or the GPU itself. Always some blackscreening or crashing/ freezing, where as with my one year of ownership of the 1080ti, which was used since its release in 2017, absolutely not a single crash/frezze, blackscreen. Btw the 7800 XT is also above my budget, going for ~€600.

I understand, but their drivers have come a long way since those times.
