I am looking to buy a new GPU for my system. I need a GPU for gaming and programs such as photoshop. My budget is Maximum £400. Can some people recommend me some GPU options for my system.

Also. If anybody thinks i should consider other hardware purchases, please say.

Feel free to ask any additional questions concerning this thread.

At that budget it makes sense to hold off a month until the 1070 comes out. I'm not sure about other currencies but a $379 GPU that beats last generations's $1000 Titan X sounds like some great price to performance to me. I don't think it makes sense to buy any card in that price range until the 1070 comes out.

When does it come out? What date approx

Also will it be that good of a card? I can imagine Nvidia will over do it to get people to buy it, wheras petty features are added? Im not saying it is but i am asking

The 1070 will release on June 10th. It would be silly to buy something in that price range before then. They claimed during their announcement that both the 1080 and 1070 were faster than a Titan X.

The 1080 launches May 27th and the 1070 is June 10th.

That depends on your budget. The 1070 is $379 USD and the 1080 is $600 USD. I haven't seen prices in other currencies yet. Hopefully sites like Tom's Hardware will have reviews of both cards with benchmarks available before the cards are released.

If you only game on 1080p, the GTX 1070 will be more than enough. If you already have or plan on buying a 120-144hz monitor or perhaps a 4k monitor, then you will need the 1080.

That's pretty much the difference between the two.

The 1070 will easily be able to handle CS:GO at 144Hz. If that is what you are looking for a $150 GTX 950 should be able to get the job done. It's not necessary to go for a $400 GPU for that.

CS:GO came out 4 years ago and it wasn't graphically demanding even back then.

I don't know. It seems hard to believe but that is what Nvidia said during their announcement. If you go to the Tom's Hardware news link I posted earlier in this thread you can read about it for yourself.

It is one of those cases where we won't know how much is Nvidia hyping up their product and how much is truth until we see real world gaming benchmarks.

My guess is that it will be similar to the 970 and 780 Ti. The 780 Ti was a beastly card when it came out and they charged $700 for it at launch. In the next generation the 970 launched at $350 and offered a similar level of performance. The 780 Ti still beat the 970 in lots of games, especially in the beginning, but the 970 was very close and actually performed better in some games.

When you take that history into consideration it's not crazy to think that the 1070 could trade blows with the 980 Ti and Titan X.
