Hey Guys,

I'm planning to upgrade my current GPU (Radeon 7770). I'm not a hardcore gamer as long as the game is playable. I'm currently looking at the ASUS GTX 960 STRIX OC 4 GB. Can you provide a good video card for this build?

MOBO Asrock H61M U3S3
RAM G.Skill RipJaws X (dual) 2x4gb ddr3 1600
GPU Sapphire HD 7770 1gb/128bit ddr5
PSU Seasonic (M12II) 520watts 80PLUS Bronze
HDD Seagate 500gb 7200.12rpm 16mb sata
ATX Fractal Core 1000

My budget is around $200~250. Also if you can provide a card that consumes less power and are good in temperatures that would be better.

Thanks.

If you wait and save up a tad bit more you can get the GTX 1070 and it will out perform the Titan X. When released it will be about the $350-$399 mark. But, if you need a GPU now, go with the 970. Just for a bit more money, you will get way more performance than the 960. I would strongly suggest waiting for the 1070 tbh.

But will the 970 fit on my chassis? The length of my 7770 is 8.66' while the Asus 960 is 8.47'. Also if I consider to get the 970, from what manufacturer should I consider?

Thanks.

If you're wanting something in your price range, now is not the time to buy, at least not until the the end of the month. With the new AMD card announced, there is no reason to look at any 9xx card anymore. If someone is being honest with you, your options start at the R9 480 arriving at the end of the month for $200 and requires a 6-pin power connector. The next card (and you should seriously consider this) is at $380 for a 1070 and requires an 8 pin power connector. The 1070 is going to be about 30-40% faster than the 480, but both will max out whatever you're playing at 1080p on a 60hz display.

Honestly, length of the GPU PCB will be based on the model and brand combo. They do make shorter cards, but you will have to look for them. Brands I recommend are EVGA, Asus, Gigabyte, and MSI, but go with the one that fits your case better and whichever has the better warranty after that. I personally, will not go with any other than EVGA because I OC my GPUs and I love EVGA's customer service. Others will agree and disagree with me based on their experiences on that last part though.

Here is an EVGA model I found on PCPartPicker.

There were a ton more listed that were compatible for that case too. Check out that website, should help some.

Okay. I will take note of those brands that you suggested. Maybe for now I'll wait a little longer for 1070 and check if its really a good GPU that I'm looking for. Thanks!

Okay. I'll wait at the end of the month and will check those cards that you mention. Thank you.
