Hey guys heres my current build https://pcpartpicker.com/list/dgX6xY i currently have a 280x and i think its time to upgrade. What graphic card would you guys recommend? i was thinking about getting a 1060 but im wondering if i should wait until i have enough to get a 1070. Should i just get a 1060 now? or will i see a big difference if i wait to get a 1070? Thanks for the help!

Depends what Resolution you are running at the moment. An RX 480 8GB or GTX 1060 6GB would indeed be plenty if you are using 1080p 60Hz, they should handle most new games at High/Ultra settings at 60 FPS no problems with your 4690K. However if you are running 1440p or 1080p at a high refresh rate such as 120 Hz or higher than a GTX 1070 would be the better card to handle this. Hope this helps :)

Yeah i currently run 1080 on a 60hz monitor, but i plan to upgrade to either a 120hz or 144hz monitor soon, so i should just wait until i have enough for a 1070?

I would if you plan to upgrade to 120/144 Hz yeah. The GTX 1060/RX 480 are capable of pulling the framerate off in some games at Ultra but definitely many that they won't push above 100.. The GTX 1070 should be much more capable of reaching this framerate in any game without having to turn down any visual settings. Definitely worth saving the extra money.

R9 Fury Nitro > RX 480 and 1060 for the same $$$. Only downside is it is a 4GB card only. But it will perform close to 1070 levels in Win10 / DX12.

And before the NVidia fanboys try to chime in with the usual propaganda...NO, it is not power hungry OR hot. Fiji tunes very nicely and Sapphire built a killer card in the Fury Nitro. Just READ this: http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/msi-afterburner-undervolt-radeon-r9-fury,4425.html

Most will run at -48mv. Mine runs at -72mv rock solid stable in EVERYTHING and draws 30w LESS power than my OCd 970 (1506 core @ 1.25v) in the same games, same settings, same resolution...all while being FASTER. And if you put a custom fan curve on it (* default fan curve is WAY too conservative) it stays under 65c under full load and is quiet without dumping tons of waste heat into your case.

If you need more than 4GB of VRAM, I would save up for a 1070 or wait for Vega.

Haha well said i can agree on this, only issue i see is finding a new R9 FURY i didn't think most stores would have the previous gen cards in stock still all the major retailers in Australia where i am from have already sold them all on clearance last November. I personally got a R9 390X 8GB for $249 AUD (~$195 USD) and couldn't be happier with the performance although it is a little hot with my 1125 Core/1700 Mem OC... :p

Hopefully no Nvidia Fanboy propaganda is something i couldn't agree on more... well no Fanboyism for any brand mind you... I'm usually getting told i'm a fool for buying a 390X because it's so hot and too much power the usual garbage but good luck beating my $249 AUD 390X with something cheaper or the same price... enough said.
