What GPU should I upgrade to?
At the moment I'd like to play FF7 rebirth
My system is as follows:
Motherboard-ASUS TUF Gaming X 570plus
CPU- Ryzen 7 3700x 8 core
Gpu-GIGABYTE RX 5700xt
PSU-RM750w 80+ Gold
16 gb RAM 3600 ddr4
I do have 250gb of NVME and a 1000gb ssd

I was contemplating a rx 6600 just to meet the minimum specs, but I'd like to not have this same issue in a year. A rx 7800xt is what I am leaning towards, but I want to know if my system can handle it, and if it is the best option for me without changing anything else.

5700XT is faster than an RX6600. Just a bit slower than the 6600XT. CPU meets the requirements easily. Is it struggling to run?

If you are trying to increase graphics performance, a 7800XT would certainly get you there. PSU is plenty to handle that.

FF7 rebirth literally will not launch on my system, because I can't run DX12 ultimate. It's silly that a slower card will run it but mine wont.

This is more in my price range and would hopefully give me some sort of boost. It would at least let me play the game, but I'm kind of hoping for more value if I need to drop a decent amount of money.
Ah, didn't see that requirement.

RX6600 would be a disappointment in all your other games. But you could consider it as a temporary purchase until the 9070 and 9070 XT launch in March.

Though the RX 7600 XT does have 16GB, it is still the exact same GPU as the RX 7600, so that 16GB will only come in handy on titles that don't take too much raw GPU power. So increased textures at lower resolutions might be good. (Unlike the 6600 and 6600XT which are different GPUs)

Now might be a good time to pick up a used 30 series GPU as well. Should be plenty of people selling to get a 50 series card. 3070 Ti are going for about $300-350 on ebay. But you will run into that 8GB limitation sooner rather than later.

You are just at the cusp of getting into the higher end GPUs, just the cost of doing business with recent game development.

I get it, I built my PC in 2020, and was originally looking at a 2070 super for like $150 more than I paid for my 5700xt, if I would have bought that then I wouldn't be running into this issue now. How much can I trust buying a used GPU on Ebay?

Well, can't really.

When I look for used GPUs, I check that they kept the original box (prevents shipping damage, and means they cared about that) If they show timestamps/proof of ownership in the pictures that is a plus. If they show proof of operation of the card, benchmarks, etc. If they provide a reason for selling that makes sense additional plus.

You can also try local classifieds, craigslist, facebook marketplace. If they are willing to meet and have you test the GPU yourself, that is another way.

You can post a want to buy ad here on Tom's (check the rules before posting) Very well might be people here about to buy a 50 series card and want a quick sale.

Also the openbox/refurb on Newegg. Usually only $20-30 off retail pricing.
