What GPU to choose help

Hello guys,
Im going to change my nvidia 680 for a new gpu and im having a hard time deciding what to choose.

My options are:

Ati 290x or evga 780.
My current setup is:
Samsung ssd evo 840 256gb
Cooler hyper plus 212
i7 4770k, asus sabertooth 87
gskill 16gb ram 2400mhz trident
sentey 850w

The 2 games i play all the time are bf4 and league of legends, i know that for lol any of the two GPU's is a complete overkill but im wondering, what would be better bewteen the two of these GPUS's with my actual setup.

I would prefer the 780 over the 290x, especially given wonky prices recently.

290x will have vastly superior performance against 780 in Battlefield 4 and upcoming Mantle games

Personally I would go with the 290 over the 780 but that's just me. It depends on the current price difference. The 290 slightly edges in front of the 780 as far as performance and I would be willing to pay 20 or 30 more dollars for that.

From a performance point of view, there is little to pick between them.

In general, the GTX780 will run cooler and quieter.
A small price premium for a superclock GTX780 version is likely to be worth it.

There's really no great rush, the GTX680 is still a extremely capable piece of kit and right now the better cooled R9 290s are still in short supply so prices are higher than they should be.
Personally I'd hang on for a month or so and decide then rather than rushing into an upgrade now.

Your GTX680 is still very capable.
One of the risks with a GTX780 or R9-280x is that the performance increase might not be big enough to leave you satisfied.

If you have the funds, why not go whole hog and buy a GTX780ti?

Or... buy a 2560 x 1440 monitor along with it.

It is likely to run cooler and quieter than the R9.

You will have an easier install because your current driver is fine; no need to wipe out the nvidia driver and install amd.

Well, im from argentina and here 1usd = 11.50$ pesos, so in my money the 290 i dont know why its so much cheaper but goes for 6500$, and the 780ti goes for 11.000$, so its almost double.

In the US, the R9 prices are inflated because of their demand for bitcoin type mining.

Usually, the factory overclocked cards do not cost much more in the US.
As a replacement for a GTX680, a stock GTX780 would be my pick.
I used amd in the past and was uncomfortable with their drivers and support.
That was some time ago so much must have changed.

Your 4770K is as good as it gets today for anything. If you have a mild OC to 4.0-4.4 you are good.

Yeh, didn't know about the dead card...Sorry, man.
Looks like the R9 290 is your best option if you want to upgrade.
One other point, the R9 280X or GTX770 should be much less expensive than the R9 290/GTX780, they are a little above the GTX680 in performance, so if you were happy with the performance of the GTX680 you may want to consider one of those.
