Hey guys I've been planning on buying a new graphics card and noticed the prices are finally down to normal, some even below launch price. My current specs are:
CPU: i7 6700k Skylake
GPU: RX 480 8gb
RAM: Geil Evo X 8x2 16gb
PSU- 650w Gold Badge
MOBO: MSI z170a gaming pro carbon
SSD: samsung 960 evo 512gb m.2
HDD: WTD Black 2tb

I'm rocking a 144hz 1ms 1080p monitor that I don't plan on upgrading anytime soon, so I will be rocking 1080p for a long time. Also I need some help finding the right manufacturer and style of a card, been looking into many and just need some suggestions. Here are a few I've found

You're right to upgrade your graphics card, as it's easily the weakest part of your build, and both the 1070 ti and the 1080 are fine choices (I personally have a Gigabyte 1080). I've included links to userbenchmark where you can compare your old graphics card with the two new possibilities:

The difference between the 1080 and the 1070 ti is around 10% in most games but in the end a 1080 is better performance of course, if you don't mind paying a little extra for that go with the Gigabyte GeForce GTX 1080 Windforce.
i have used many gigabyte gpus in the past and i can say it was a flawless experience.

If you play heavy games or do video rendering and other heavy tasks, I'd go with the 1080, but my best advice is to only buy what you'll use.

I hope this helps!

The manufacturer of the card really doesn't matter at all, as the performance varies about half of a percent at the maximum between them. My best advice for which to buy is to use a well known website like Amazon, OutletPC, Newegg, etc, buy the card new (a card that someone else used for crypto mining can be nearly useless), and buy whichever one is cheapest. Manufacturer only matters if you want a specific feature, like one click overclocking or super quiet fans. The only time that there is a noticeable difference in performance is when you buy a mini one, for example the Zotac AMP! mini line of gpus sacrifice performance for size.

I hope this helps!

P.S. I personally have a Gigabyte Geforce GTX 1080 Winforce OC edition, which works like a dream and has very user friendly software that allows easy OCing and eco mode, which I picked up for about $500, so that's my recommendation, but really just buy whatever's cheapest.
