Hello everyone. I'm looking to upgrade my roughly 6-year-old gaming pc with a new graphics card. I'm looking at something in the range of the rtx 4060 or 4060 ti even though the reviews for those haven't been great. Looking to stay in the $400 price range. My other concern is bottlenecking if I buy too much graphics card. Is it worth upgrading just the card or do I need a whole new rig? I currently play at 1080P but would like to get something to game at 1440P in the near future. Here are the specs of what I currently have in my pc. Let me know your recommendations for what I should do. Thanks!

Processor: Intel i5 9600k
Graphics Card: EVGA GeForce GTX 1070 SC GAMING ACX 3.0 Black Edition
Ram: 16 GB Corsair DDR4 3000mhz ram
Motherboard: ASRock Z390 PHANTOM GAMING SLI/ac LGA 1151
Power Supply: CORSAIR CX-M Series CX650M 650W 80 PLUS BRONZE Power Supply

I would go for an Rx 6800 at $439, but your cpu will probably bottleneck it. If you are looking to upgrade the cpu as well, I would go for a 7600x. Only problem is that this would probably require a total rebuild because am5 only supports ddr5 and the PSU may not adequate for the new graphics card and cpu.

I've run a 5700 XT for several years at 1440p with a 7700k and a 12600k. It has run great with both so a RX 6800 will run great for you.

Don't worry about the bottleneck. Just think of it as a great way to direct you to 👉 future upgrades!
