I was wondering what graphics card to get because I had chosen the ASUS R9 290 OC CUII because I feel it will future proof it and I have it with the amd 8 core processor FX 8320 I dont no weather this a bit over kill. I was just wondering if this is thee right choice or should I choose a different one.

Thanks in advance

Solution
that is great card and if you are looking at future-proof term then there would be no use of overkill term 😉
Another great card you can take a look at is GTX 780, with lesser price and will outperform R9 290 in most cases.

PCPartPicker part list / Price breakdown by merchant / Benchmarks

Video Card: Asus GeForce GTX 780 3GB Video Card ($499.99 @ NCIX US)
Total: $499.99
(Prices include shipping, taxes, and discounts when available.)

Like brarboy said, the 780 is a great card as well.

Either will be pretty much as future-proof as you can get around $500. The 780 will run a little bit cooler, and give you options like Shadowplay, if that is important to you.

The 780 will get you maxed out at 1080p for a good long time, as will the 290, at least until Star Citizen comes out 😛

Will it work ok with my amd processor
