I am considering spending my pennies that i have saved up and breaking the bank on a Nvidia 970. There are multiple brands and versions all with different clock and boost clock speeds. I was just asking, What is the best one to go for? I live in the UK and am considering spending no more than £300 ($470, Prices in the UK are alot more than the US 😛) Thanks, Mike

Solution

How does Galax sound? Weird? Bad ? Well, it sounds pretty good to me after seeing their GTX 970 design and the reviews. 😀

It has a very good factory overclock, its a good overclocker, has backplate, stops one of its fans on idle, has GREAT design. Also it`s the cheapest GTX970 on my country, don`t know about UK 😀

The one's I know of with a hybrid fan mode are the MSI Gaming, ASUS STRIX, Palit Jetsream and all of the EVGA branded 970's with the ACX 2.0 cooler (I'm not sure if they're shipping them with the firmware yet) if a hybrid fan mode is important to you.

Depends on your case as well if you say running a smaller case you might want look into a GTX 970 with Blower Fans OCUK do a brilliant one. If you looking for non-blower fans models you can't go wrong with Galax HOF or Galax Infinity Black excellent build quality on both and brilliant room for overclocking.

All three are excellent models of the GTX 970 you wouldn't go wrong with any of them. I'm getting 2 of the 970 Cooler Design myself for my 970 SLI set up.
