I am building a custom loop and I need to know if there is something different between the different brands other than coolers. I will put a water block on it so I will end up scraping the cooler anyway. I will be overclocking it so does having the higher factory overclock make any difference when I do it?

I think(since you have no need for a cooler) should go with a 970 with the highest factory clock speed which is the EVGA variant. It comes with 4Gb((actually 3.5Gb) of RAM and a factory OC of 1165Mhz and a boost clock of 1317Mhz. (The reference card has a 1050Mhz clock and a boost clock of 1178Mhz). You can get the EVGA GTX 970 SC ACX 2.0 card for $324.99 or you can pick up a slightly more OC card(The EVGA GTX 970 SSC ACX 2.0+) for $349.99. Hope this helps!!
