what happen if graphic card is underpowered?

My zotac gtx 650 not detected when i plugged it in. but the fan is spinning. when i try to install nvidia driver, it won't detect. i suspect she is being underpowered since my psu is 500w but no 6 pin. How can i fix this..the different when i plugged it in is my pc boot a little longer before monitor detect and display the cmos.

You need a psu with the proper connection(s) to power the card. A 500w that lacks a 6-pin pci power connector is either old, very poor quality or both.

If the videocard requires a 6 pin connector then you have to plug one in. If your power supply does not have such a connector then you have to choose. Either buy a new power supply or don't use that card.

Yes, the PSU/power unit has no compatibility problems with any components you can install in your system. Unless the power Draw is to high for the PSU...
