Dear people,
I hope someone can help me out please,
we have two windows servers (2003), one is the main one,
with exhange etc installed on it, the second one is really
ating like a web server and as a terminal server box for
users to log in from various macihnes into the same place.

When we had the servers installed terminal server was set
up by external people. The terminal server had not had
CAL's installed as we didnt obtain them, but we are now
recieving messages tht our temporary licience is gonig to
run out ,
i have activated the terminal server, and it is
sucusseful, i have also obtained CAL's for our client
machines, and this als ohas been activated, but im unsure
of what to do now?

You see in the terminal server licence admin window wen i
click on the temp licinece on the right hand side of the
window i see the computers tha have been issued with temp
licences for terminal server usage with the expiration
date etc.
but wen i click on the new CAL licence (which isnt
temporary) i dont see any issued client machines,
my question is does this happen automatically after the
temp licence expires? and if not how do i issue the client
machines to the new licience that i have installed?

Urgent reponse required please

many thanks in advance
Zal

A temporary license is changed into a permanent license as soon as
possible, from the second connection onwards.
A permanent license is renewed 7 days before expiration.

Did you buy Per User or Per Device TS CALs?

If you installed Per User TS CALs, is the Terminal Server (not the
Licensing Server!) also set to use "Per User" licensing? The
default is "Per Device". You can check this from Administrative
Tools - Terminal Services Configuration - Server Settings.
If it's set to Per Device mode, it will look for a Device TS CAL
and will not issue your Per User TS CALs.

Check this article, it explains that even after you have
switched licensing mode on the TS, your Per User TS CAL count will
not be decremented:
