What happens when a stress test fails AFTER the 8 hours minimum requirement?

Hi guys,

I just built my first pc and have started the journey into OC. my specs include:

cpu- 4670k
mobo- asrock z87 pro4
cpu cooler- h100i
ram- gskill ares 1600
psu- antec 550w 80+ platinum
gpu- asus GTX 760

I have already done all the stress testing on stock including cpu, gpu and mem. I then started the OC journey and have arrived at :

46x multiplier
44x cache
100mh frequency
1.30v Vcore
1.30v cache voltage

I then did a OCCT CPU stress test which ran for around 8 hours b4fore crashing. last time I checked it was 7 hours and still running.

Should I now increase my voltage to 1.31v? or should i leave it at that since it 'kinda' reached the 8 hours. Is there anything else I can do to find stability? personally I think ill change it to 1.31v and try testing again but I would love to hear some advice on this matter.

Thanks in advance

Solution
Well, requirements are all relative. Some people are not happy until 24 hours is achieved. If you want complete stability, yeah, it's probably a good idea to see if upping the voltage does the trick.

Cool thanks for the reply. ive changed it to 1.31v and its been 5h 30mins now. i was just wondering, will enabling LLC be any use because ive read from a few post that it is not required anymore or less important now with haswell cpus. also should i try and lower the cache voltage my 0.01 of the vcore since im only running the cache mutiplyer by 44x? will it have any good long term effects? my temps dont go beyond 75 Celsius atm and sticks around 60-65 Celsius.

Load-Line Calibration is a way of telling your motherboard to feed your CPU more voltage to make up for the some that is inevitably lost (as vibration/heat) when it is under load. That's why you sometimes read that someone has their Vcore set to, say, 1.4, but then their actual reading ends up being 1.35. That's the loss in voltage. LLC helps to compensate for that. If you're experiencing such a drop, you may have to bump up the LLC.

thanks again, im not experiencing any of these drops so i think ill leave it disabled. what about lowering the cache voltage? should i lower it 0.01 volts from the Vcore or will it not make much difference?

no problem, you've answered my initial question anyway. thanks for your help thus far.
