What happens when you put a r7 240 (full height gpu) in a Pcie port limited to only draw 35w.

I recently bought an Optiplex 790 DT (Desktop), and then figured out that the PCIe slot was limited to only draw 35w. Can I run said card without risking damage to the board / GPU? Also, I was wondering if the DT version had a special form factor PSU or the regular size.

it would cause the card to underperform by a huge margin .. and it could even cause your card start malfunctioning andd you will risk the card stop working and possible bring the motherboard with it .. if you can sell the card and get a better fit for that motherboard then do so immediately..hope i helped

yep as long as the other motherboard is the same socket as the cpu then you can switch it over..and you have to take into consideration the fsb of the cpu and the motherboard.. if the motherboard does not support the pu fsb speed then it wnt work or will be bottlenecked .. not much to worry about ..

it will work .. the motherboard supports 3rd generation intel processors so you wont have any problems with your processor.. and you wont want to use the intel hd graphics trust me .. transfer the r7 240 into the new machine and you will be alright .. that asrock motherboard is quiet ok ..

as long as you hold on to something metal on the case of the computer and take out the cpu when all static is gone from you then there will be no problem.. just hold the case for about a minute or two before touching any hardware in the computer.. everything will be alright
