What has died?

Hello!

So I was gaming the other night and my PC just cut out for no reason.

I thought it was the PSU so I got a replacement from Amazon, but it's still not working. The little light on the mobo comes on, but when I press the power button, nothing happens.

I've read through a bunch of different threads about this and tried other things bit nothing is working.

It has been a little weird lately as well, as in, when I turn it on, all the fans start turning etc but not posting for about 3 seconds, then it turns itself off and turns back on again and resumes as normal. Could this have anything to do with it?

Any help would be appreciated, thanks!

My experience with a PC that just died one day ; motherboard. Plugging in PSU would show orange light, not orange and green and debug LED which meant power on. I had to get a PSU that would turn on when plugged in to get it to turn on ; even then, black screen, no post, no sound, and the debug LED just read "--"

I should also note that round the 24-pin ATX connector, there were four popped and not-too-good looking capacitors.

I agree my first thought would be the motherboard. What are your specs? If you have integrated graphics I would plug your display cable directly into the mobo and see if it works to rule out the gpu. If not then its likely the cpu or mobo if it is indeed a hardware failure. Personally I have never witnessed a cpu failure that wasn't caused by excessive heat or voltages, I have however seen many a mobo fail.

No, it doesn't boot whatsoever, the only sign of life is a little green LED on the mobo!

Sorry about the long reply! So I've done all that, and when I went to turn it on, everything flashed and the fans started turning for a split second, then nothing. But the green LED is still on.
