i am looking for what heatsink/fansink to get for an intel core 2 quad Q9550 processor, which will be replacing the cpu currently in my computer i can pretty much garuntee that any heatsink that would come with a q9550 would probably be to large:

my current fansink (its a heatsink with fan directly attached is: 58.51mm x 94.09mm x ~75 mm
(length x width x height) that 75 mm for height is the MAXIMUM height i can go to as any higher and i cant put the cover back on. that width is pretty much the maximum with MAYBE a 1 or 2 mm tolerance, the length i can let very more by probably 10 - 15 mm i think.

current build:
CPU: Intel Core 2 Duo E6550
GPU: EVGA GeForce GT 620 1024MB
RAM: 4x 2gb dimm 240 pin 800 mhz (its all dual channel and ddr2)
Hard Drive: 2 TB
motherboard: Hewlet Packard model 0AA8h
Case: dc7800 SFF
Power supply output: 240W MAX (its still the standard psu that was included)
Power supply part number is: 437352-001
its spare number is: 437798-001
Operating system is OEM version of Windows 7
there is also a broadcom wireless card
building a new pc isnt an option... unless somebody wants to send me the money for a new copy of win 7 :p as the oem version of win7 (which is what i have) is locked to the motherboard. (getting the oem version saved me about 150 - 200 bucks though)

i already found a psu that says it can directly replace the psu that is proprietary to my machine (i checked the model numbers it says it can replace, matched mine exactly)

heatsink is also specific to my machine and probably the cpu as well, (and thus probably couldnt handle the increased heat the quad core would produce)

little tidbit of info: the q9550 uses about 30 watts more than whats in my machine at the moment (intel core 2 duo e6550)

The stock heatsink should be fine, the DC series of small form factors use pretty good heatsinks for their size so just go with the stock one as HP uses a server type heatsink 'by the looks of it).

If they can cool Pentium Ds at full load they should be able to cool a Core 2 Quad pretty nicely.

whats your exact budget
