I have just applied Arctic MX-4 and have seen that there is an 450 hour (2 weeks 4 days) break in period?
I don't know what that is and I am a gamer on my laptop so would this affect me gaming?

Thanks,
Fraser

It just means that during this time the thermal paste is curing (the heat from the processor is doing this) so you may see slightly higher temps for the first week or two. After that your temps should be a bit cooler but it's not going to be by a large amount, maybe a couple degrees C. Not like a 10-20c difference or anything. So long as the thermal paste is applied correctly and everything is working and temps are good, just use your laptop. You won't have to do anything else while it's breaking in.

What do you mean when you applied thermal compound? On what your cpu gpu in a laptop? I'm not entirely sure what this "break in period" is. But it sounds like bullsh*t to me. When you apply thermal compound to your cpu you shouldn't do it in massive quantities and it should most likely last you at least 5-10 years or the life time of that system. You don't have to re-apply. I think someones pulling your chain about this break in nonsense. Like head light fluid.

Thanks for the answer so I can still game within the break-in period since i applied on both cpu and gpu?

Thanks,
Fraser

I applied it to both CPU and GPU a thin layer, I heard off the break in period on a separate thread but they never explained what it was or what is was for, sorry for any misunderstanding.
Thanks,

Did you put an after market cooler on both? just curious?
