around 6000 means you can play on high at normal rez(1440x900/1280x1020). 9000 will play on high at higer rez(1600x1200/1680x1050)

slimjim85 that's gotta be a lie. OR you failed to let us know that you O.C.d your CPU to 4gigs "?"
Actually it seems impossible w/your sys. @2.0gigs
UNLESS that's 3DMark '05.......... NOT '06 "!"
I have PHOTOSHOP also.

Hasn't anyone seen the HIGHEST score in the world... 30,000+ w/ 2x2900PRO512mb's in CrossFIRE (not 8800GTX) :sol:
Quad core @4.95gigs.
only 2gig RAM

The writing's on the wall. He has Paint opened with "untitled" on his task bar. Now that's some hard-core CSI work.

MSI - P6N Platinum
2gb A-Data 4CL

x2 3600+ @2.6Ghz
3GB DDR2800 (dual channel)
XFX 8800 GTS 320 @ 560/1800
XP Pro

With that I get right at 9000. I have since overclocked the GPU to 600/2000, but I haven't re-benched it yet. I am pleased with this score though.

I get 9707 no oc'ing (c2q6600, 8800gts320, vista 32bit, 2gb ddr2 667) on default freeware settings 1280x1024. I have Aero and all kinds of crap disabled, no fancy dancy bars for me. I'm gonna OC the card, the cpu will wait till I get some real fans lol..

Well since this thread is back from the grave i find it hard to compare 3d mark06 vs gaming not being a linear scale, meaning 3 systems 1 p4d805/7900 scored 6400 another q6600/8800 scored 9200 and i cant tell the difference while gaming at 1600x1200 3rd system p4ee/x800 scored 3000 and i can really tell the difference in gaming.
That being said there is no mention of gaming so i say a good 3d score would be somewhere in the teens 13k+ 3dmark i dont think for gaming they have to be that high yet though

Um, yea, why? Is that a bad thing? I just got a killer deal on a second 76GT so I got it. I can't bring myself to spend 2 or 300 bucks on a video card when I was playing fear/scct and such games perfectly fine. I even palyed the Jericho demo and it looked perfect. Now with the 2 76gt's it's just that much better. I recently built a system for a friend with an 86GT and while it was better... it just didn't seem worth the price. What would you recommend if I did decide an upgrade?

Guess I need a new comp more than I thought:

3D Mark 06 = 2151

My System:

P4 3.2 w/HT, 2mb L2, 800mhz fsb
X1650Pro 512mb DDR2, 8x AGP (oc'd to 661.5 core / 463.50 memory using ATI Tool 0.27)
2gb PC3200 400mhz Patriot mamory
Antec 550W PSU
WD 80gb 7200rpm HD
Seagate 160gb 7200rpm HD

My video card was lagging on the first 2 tests (6 fps average), but the CPU really bogged down in its tests (>1 fps average). However the 2nd set of tests for my video card was averaging 14 fps. Aparently my video card is better at HDR.

Please note that in games like World of Warcraft I generally get 60fps and in a busy city I hold about 42. And Oblivion runs without any issues at stock settings.

I do look forward to the new build I have planned for Feb. or March. Can't really tell what parts I will use for the build as I know there will be alot of new hardware out by then. I do know the budget will be about $1200.
