Hey guys, i have a gtx 970 and a monitor called Acer G276HL Dbmid 27-Inch Screen LED-Backlit Monitor and it is only 60 hz? So i am only locked down to 60 fps. Don't you guys think that is a waste?

What is a good gaming monitor? Do you guys think i can get the Samsung 4k screen and still play the new gen games in 1080P just incase my graphic card can't handle it?

Solution

Australia? Well, that will change the prices a bit, lol, I wish I knew sooner. As for 1440p gaming, it is good if you got like 970 SLI, you can max it and have lots of fun at a level above 1080p, 1x 970 is also good, just won't be as good as 970 SLI obviously. So is it worth it? Right now yes it is if you want better graphics, but if you want higher Hz, you'll have to stick with 1080p 144Hz, because there is only 1 monitor that is 1440p 144Hz and that's probably close to $750 in Australian prices. I don't think you wanna spend that much on a monitor, lol.

Here is...
You monitor seems just fine. However you can always go for better, but the performance / price ratio will fall drastically. Seeing as you have a Nvidia card, maybe you should go for a monitor with G-Sync if you have the budget for it. And yes you can game in 1080p on a 4k monitor (just set the resolution to 1080p) but I can't say wether it will look good or bad.

Oh i thought it was the same monitor. Is there a way to find the HZ? Like since i can't buy a 4k monitor due to the performance. How about a 2k Monitor. Would that be lag free for games and good quality?

By 2k monitor, you mean like 2560 x 1440? and the specs of the monitor you showed is above, max of 75Hz I think.

Oh wow thanks, i don't think there would be much of a difference. Can you check my local store out and see if there any monitors that are good for gaming. Like maybe 2k? Or 27 inches 100 hz+

Yes, as long as it can handle game smoothly at max settings. If not, i would like a 27 inch 1080P that good for gaming. I wasn't an expert at monitors so i bought a 60hz, made a bad choice.

The VG278HE is the cheapest gaming 144Hz monitor there is right now, as for local stores, I'm not sure, since I buy my stuff mostly from online like Newegg or Amazon, I've never used anything else other than Bestbuy. Look at the right side of the link and see if you recognize any of them for local stores?

Here is the prices in Australia for the monitor, I thought it would be US.

Its really expensive though! Maybe we'll see the discount on boxing day <--- its like black friday in the united states. Okay, i would most likely end up getting the 1080P 144HZ for gaming. Thanks for the help. Would i see differences? Since i already have a 1080P but its 60HZ.

From 60Hz to 144Hz? Yeah, I'd say you'd definitely see a difference. More than double of your original.

Oops, it is actually $1,000 for you, lol. The filter returned to US $, so yeah, that's pretty expensive for 1 monitor, you should enjoy this 1080p 144Hz monitor for right now and perhaps after like 1-2 years and you can get it and move up to another level of graphics :)

Hey, now you got a chance to change it, so it's not that bad :) But to me 60Hz is enough, I play on 4k@60Hz and that's enough for me, higher is nice but displayport 1.3 is not out for sale yet, nor there is GPU and TV with built in displayport 1.3 yet. But that's just me, if you like 144Hz and want to have no problems in fast action games, go enjoy it and have fun :)

Then do you think i should go for 4K as well, and when display port 1.3 is released i would have 120HZ? The 1080P 144 HZ costs $450 and Samsung 4k cost $550. It is only a $100 difference away. Its no big deal. But i do not know if my graphic card would handle it. So i'll let you decide.

4k needs a lot of computer power to stabilize, you'll need like at least 3 GPUs to get close to 60 fps, so it wouldn't be a good experience for you if you want beyond 60. 4k@120Hz will need even more, I'm not even sure if my systems can handle that high, and it costed "A LOT", so 4k is not exactly an option right now unless you are willing and determined to push it and spend a lot of money.

Very good information. Thanks for everything. I appreciate it.
