What is a Good Stick of RAM for my Ryzen 3 1300X?

Solution
Ryzen likes faster memory. 3000 is usually the best value, but 3200 would be better I'm sure. You'll want to consider CAS latency and voltage. The lower the CAS and voltage the better.

Do you only have 2 memory slots on your mobo? What mobo do you have?

https://pcpartpicker.com/list/xQrFNN this is the build I am getting. I already have a case, GPU, storage, power supply, OS, monitor, keyboard, mouse, etc.

Okay great, then you can get 2x4GB instead of 1x8GB. The 2 sticks will run in dual-channel and give better performance. I know they are slightly more expensive, but it's worth it.

Pick whichever pair you like as far as price and all https://pcpartpicker.com/products/memory/#s=403000,403200&Z=8192002&sort=price&page=1

I know on Intel Z-series boards a 3000 CAS 15 will run overclocked at 3200+ CAS 16. I have 2 sets of ram both run OC'd at 3200 CAS 16 1.32V on Z270, and their stock speed is (Corsair) 2400 CAS 14 1.20V and (G.Skill) 2800 CAS 15 1.25V.

So like I was saying, lower cas and lower voltage are better by themselves, but especially if you want to overclock because you can increase both to allow faster speeds.

*I would probably get the G.Skill Ripjaws V 3200MHz. It costs more but it's already at 3200Mhz so just enable XMP in BIOS and you're all set.

**Wait, wait, wait,.. I forgot AM4 is picky with memory. Let's research which is most compatible before you buy.

Will AM4 run 3200MHz ? If so I'd get this PCPartPicker part list / Price breakdown by merchant

Memory: G.Skill - Ripjaws V Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR4-3200 Memory ($90.99 @ Newegg)
Total: $90.99
Prices include shipping, taxes, and discounts when available

*They'd all be very similar in performance though.

That's the Cas16 version. It uses SkHynix ram. The Cas14 and Cas15 versions of the RipJaws V use Samsung B-die. Can make a difference. The SkHynix most usually end up stable at 2933 instead of the full 3k or 3200. I should say 'last I heard', it might have changed some with the latest bios updates/firmware updates offered by Amd and mobo vendors.
