What is a PC crack?

Hi guys, so i'm new to PC gaming and wanted to know if someone could elaborate on what PC cracks are for games?

So what about these different updates, for example: UPDATE 5 AND CRACK V4-3. What does it mean by that? I understand there's a new update but is there also a new crack because the previous one has been patched?
