For a computer that is going to cost 500$ what is a killer cpu. Should I go with amd or intel. My purpose for it would be simple gaming, a little video editing, and streaming just to give you an idea

We have benched these to death on Overclock.net. The Athlon 860K always ends up with higher minimum FPS in games (and higher overall) than the FX-6300. It seems to be due to the cache misses and latency issues found in all BD/PD chips.

The only thing the extra 2 piledriver cores are good for is streaming (like recording while you play). But in that case you should be getting the FX-8310 which is still cheaper (often $89 at Tiger Direct or Microcenter) and stronger than the FX-6300 for streaming.

By streaming you do mean live streaming right? For example twitch streaming?

No. We have tested same clockspeed and the per core performance is about 15% higher with steamroller. And we use DDR3-2400CL9 in all of our testing.

Hey don't get me wrong. There is one instance where it's very beneficial to have the more cores, preferably 8. That's recording gameplay and streaming at high quality. That's the one task that brings my Athlon to it's knees (and i3/i5) putting all cores at 100%. The FX-8310 can handle that much easier.
