What is an appropriate CPU bus speed : DRAM speed ratio?

I'm using an ASUS UEFI BIOS with a set of Corsair Vengence 1866Mhz 8GB and an i5 3570k @ 3.4GHz.

To begin with I found the BIOS detected the DRAM frequency as 1333Mhz, so after doing a bit of reading up on it I changed the frequency manually to 1866MHz. I noticed the CPU core speed increased slightly as a result, presumably because the FSB : DRAM ratio is set to AUTO.

I don't intend on overclocking it currently. I guess that this small clock speed increase isn't going to affect stability, but would it be more suitable to choose a different ratio? After a bit of research people claim a 1:1 ratio is needed to avoid slowdown.

Thanks guys.

I have the same chip and an asus boad, I would leave your bus speed at auto, If your unhappy with the increased base clock you could clock your RAM lower. I have 1600mhz ram and my Base clock is 100mhz.

When you say your cpu core speed increased, what did it go to?

asus boards come with a turbo mode which will increase your base clock very slightly when under load I believe

After reading up on XMP mode (supported by my RAM), I reset my BIOS configs and then enabled it. The memory frequency was automatically detected as 1866MHz, and my core CPU clock now stays fixed at 3411MHz, along with the correct DRAM frequency and 100MHz base clock in CPU-Z. Originally, the base clock was at a higher 105MHz.
So far it seems stable, which it should be.
