I am updating programs on my laptop and do not know much about it.

The ATI High Definition Audio Device is the sound part of the HDMI port of your laptop. If you connet your TV via HDMI, you get the picture and the sound through the same cable. You AMD graphics card has an integrated sound chip for that. Take care, that after a drive update, the standard playback device (control panel / sounds) is set to the device you prefer, build in speakers for example.
