My gut feeling (which is worth about as much as the contents of my guts) is that an 880 will be released this year with 28nm but those of us in the budget range of 870s or 860s will be waiting till 2015.

i'm aware of that but if you follow closely about next gen GPU stories you will know more about recent rumors. the article still mention about high end maxwell will use 20nm node although for a few weeks there has been talk that GTX880 will use 28nm instead of 20nm. then there are talks about the next flagship will be cheaper than current one. if that it is true then it only might be possible with 28nm node as 20nm is much more expensive than mature 28nm node right now (due to much lower yield and very constraint capacity)
personally i'm looking into 860 myself. depending on situation i might even get two to replace my current 660 SLI
😀 . but i'm more concern if PCI-E going to bottleneck such setup since my setup will run at PCI-E 2.0 x8/x8 when running SLI.
