ok me and a friend are debating what is better, not including price just a performance on performance scale, including overclocks. i say a titan but he continues to argue 780,

also other q's he argues they both have the same amount of cuda cores, he says 384, i think he's wrong, can someone plese help us with this argument

ps. links to benchmarks etc. as proof are very welcome

Technically they are VERY close in power from a gaming perspective, and what you get in price of the Titan over the 780 is not really worth the extra few hundred bucks...

However, Titan has more CUDA cores from what I hear, which means if you do a lot of things like video editing, encoding, converting, and so on... the Titan performs significantly better.

It's late... so I might be a little off on my memory so someone can confirm this all... but if you are going to be getting a video card for gaming, just get the 780, but technically the Titan IS more powerful... just maybe not in the way you are thinking, and it won't really affect your gaming very much.

thanks for the help sklug id probably make yours the answer to the question, but my friend wont belive 2 poeples staments sadly, hes stubbon ( and i dont think he wants to lose out to someone whos younger and hasnt been working with computers as long 😉 ) but again thanks

in terms of compute the titan is a beast cruncher compared to the 780 but in real world game performance the increase in performance for the price is ridiculously high.

you would be better off getting a stock overclocked 770 that's at 780 levels unless you wanted to overclock a 780 to near titan levels.

thanks mauler, and yeah i agree that if price is involved titan is pointless for gaming over the 780,

The Titan beats the 780 consistently in most games, but by a small amount. The price for the Titan however is much higher, and unless money is not a problem, the 780 is always the better choice.

Look at benchmarks around the web, especially for games you play.

TLDR; GTX Titan is more powerful, GTX 780 is better value.
