what is difference between windows 7 and windows 8.1

Solution
For starters, the Windows 8.1 user interface/desktop is completely different to Windows 7 & takes some getting used to.
The Windows 8.1 desktop is made up of a series of "tiles" rather than standalone icons, and many do not like that, which is why Windows 7 is still the preferred version by far.

There are some benefits to 8.1 over Windows 7. But not many for the desktop, the most notable probably being Windows Storage Spaces (a replacement for Windows Drive Extender) and a revamped task manager.

But if your going to upgrade your OS, I would just go with Windows 10. Its better than Windows 8.1 in nearly every way.
