Is the hardware id from my storage, gpu, cpu or motherboard? And what is it exactly? Was just told I can't play a game because my hardware id doesn't match? Please help, thanks!
Usually your Hardware ID is the complete picture of what hardware you have installed at the time a specific software is installed. It's done to make sure you aren't trying to clone software (usually Windows) onto extra hard drives and then install those drives in separate computers.
So switching hard drives will change my hwid? And not let me reinstall Windows? Rust is the game and I can't screenshot right now. My specs are: gtx970, fx6300,8gb ballisticx ram, as us r2.0 motherboard

This has got me thinking to. What if all I did was unplug something within my system, would change my hwid? Like added a second hdd, unplugged disk drive?
