What is Raid?

My new PC will have a Samsung 840 EVO and a Western Digital BLACK SERIES 2TB. My SSD will have Windows on it and be my primary drive. Do i HAve to setup any kind of RAID? How do I setup RAID. Is it in the BIOS if So I am gettign the ASUS Maximus VII Hero

You don't need to setup a RAID. Really in you case you can't. RAID is primarily for protecting you data against drive failure. It requires at least 2 of the same drives.

You can't setup RAID with a 250 GB SSD (example) and a 2 TB HDD. It just can't happen. RAID 0 would be terrible, because those drives have a very different Read/Write speed, so data corruption could happen. The SSD could be done writing the striped file (RAID 0), and the HDD could be not even halfway. It is optimal to install 2 of the EXACT same drive. Same space, same maker, same model.
