I am now assembling the final components of a new ARGB PC. A friend in my church has graciously agreed to perform the actual assembly.

Here is the actual list of components we will be using:

Vetroo Al-700 case
ASRock Z590 Steel Legend Wi-Fi 6E
i5-10700 CPU running @4.2 Ghz, with an RGB CPU fan
64GB DDR4 RAM
2 SSD drives; the system drive will be 1TB, while the data drive will be 2 TB
850W ARGB PSU
6 extra ARGB case fans (the case comes with only1 in the rear, and 1 or 2 in the front; as you can imagine, I'd rather have too many than not enough!)
Microsoft Windows 11 Pro

Initially, I had planned to use the motherboard's onboard sound and graphics. Recently, however, I have become interested in AI image generation. I have read online that a MINIMUM of 6GB of VRAM is needed for such applications (i.e., Stable Diffusion). I feel that at least 8 GB would be better. I have found a number of GPU's on both eBay and Facebook Marketplace, the latter showing a number of GPUs that have 8 MB of VRAM for around $100.00.

Purchasing such a card will naturally force me to postpone the actual assembly until January, which I don't mind doing if the end result proves rto be worthwhile. This of course leads to the big question: Can anyone recommend a GPU that will best fulfill these requirements (epecially with regard to the purchase price)? If you can, I would deeply appreciate it.

Are you certain you want to work with Stable Diffusion? The app you want to work with will dictate what you buy. I would avoid buying used GPU's. You also get the certainty that a faulty GPU will be replaced on warranty when bought brand new.

850W ARGB PSU
This is vague. 850W is the advertised wattage of the unit. What is the make and model of the unit?

1. Unless you really really know what you're doing, don't buy used. Especially used GPU.

2. "more fans" is not necessarily better. 4 can indeed be better than 6.

The name on the PSU box is "GameMax." Also, I have found a few new GPU's on eBay, and pretty close the price range I mentioned.

Run away! Run fast!!!
Do not buy that thing, under any circumstances.
If you already have it, do NOT install it or use it.

"new on fleabay" may not be as new as you think.
With most current GPUs, the warranty only conveys from an authorized reseller. Some dude on ebay is not.
Can you provide further info about the GameMax, please?

Among a search in here, you'll not find one comment from a reliable person recommending a GameMax.

Further:
"Brands that in general should never be trusted at all except when a positive reliable review for a SPECIFIC MODEL from that brand exists."
GameMax is one of those.

Can you please recommend a reliable 850-watt PSU?

And if you need further evidence, look here, Tier F (Replace immediately). And no, they are NOT joking. And while we haven't always gotten along tremendously with all of the members that are a part of that endeavor, the majority of them have a very good idea of what they are talking about.

This is probably about the least expensive 850w power supply available right now with significant enough quality that I feel confident recommending it to somebody not wanting to pay more. It's a very good power supply. Super Flower is an OEM that makes or has made units and platforms for companies like EVGA (G3, B2, P2, T2) and others.

If you want to spend a bit more, this is arguably an even better option, but the differences aren't significant and I'd probably choose the Leadex III especially at that price. It's a very good power supply.

I'd rather have too many fans than not enough! Anyhow,I'm not necessarily tying myself down, as it wer to Stable Diffusion; it's simply the onely such program I've found so far that can be runn on a PC without having to go online. That having been said, I should further clarify my request by poinitng out that most AI apps, whether online or standalone, are said to require at least 6GB of VRAM. I chose 8GB in searching for a suitable GPU in order to insure some "breathing room," so to speak. Now, having said all of that, what GPUs would you recommend?
